Dr. Macario has over 20 years of experience in public health and recently has moderated nearly 250 in-person focus groups (in both English and Spanish) for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, The National Institute on Drug Abuse, and others. She has published in the American Journal of Health Promotion, Californian Journal of Health Promotion, Cases in Public Health Communication & Marketing, CANCER, Ethnicity & Disease, Health Education & Behavior, Health Promotion Practice, Journal of the American Dietetic Association, Journal of Infection Prevention, Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Journal of Nutrition Education, Journal of School Violence, Public Health Nursing, Women & Health, and Women and Smoking: A Report of the Surgeon General. She holds a Doctor of Science in Public Health, specializing in Social Marketing, a Master of Science, and Master of Education from Harvard.
